Signups for the July WIP challenge!

It's that time again: signups for next month's WIP challenge are now open.

In the past, we've had some people join midmonth, or comment on check-in posts without officially signing up. That's fine, too -- I'm glad there's a way for the challenge to be useful in a variety of ways!

But for those of you who find the commitment of saying out loud that you're going to finish something useful (as I do!), please sign up as below.

Signups will be open until the end of June.

• Level of challenge: 1 chapter, 1000 words, 1 fic finished, whatever you like

• What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.

I couldn't continue to run this challenge without assistance with the daily check-in posts. Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the check-ins before!

Could I please get some volunteers to help with check-ins for July? A week per person would be ideal, if possible (I usually assign weeks running Sunday-Saturday just for consistency, & so I don't get gaps of one or two days, but if that's difficult let me know). I'm happy to help come up with suggestions for discussion topics or other things to do for the check-ins if need be. Just let me know if you're able to help out. Thanks!

& I hope for those of you doing the challenge this month that it's going well -- we've heard from lots of you during the check-in posts, but if we haven't heard from you yet, or in a while, why not take a moment to comment on yesterday's post (or today's, when it goes up)?

Level of challenge: 2 fics finished, at least. I'll probably jinx myself if I suggest that I might finally make myself finish my poetry_fiction fic, especially because I've been dallying in other fandoms for months. But I should really finish my last remaining help_japan fic already!

Level of challenge: Finish my Big Bang fic, due at the end of the month. I have other WIPs going, but they will have to take their place on the back burner -- this month it's Big Bang or nothing!

Level of challenge: Finish my Bandom Big Bang rough draft (10k-word minimum) which is due July 22nd. Also, work on a (hopefully) shorter fic that I'm aaaaalmost done outlining.

Fandom(s) involved: Bandom (MCR-focused for the Big Bang, MCR-only for the second fic)

What you're looking for from the challenge: getting the roughdrafts done (hopefully send them to get beta read at some point), cheerleading, accountability and occasional hand-holding.

What you could offer other participants yourself: The very same. *g*

Level of challenge: 2 fics. My kinked big bang (which, okay, I haven't technically started yet barring a few hundred words and some ideas, but it still needs to be done and the more I get done before uni starts in August, the better) and a 45k WIP I really should have finished by now called Glitter. I only have about three chapters left to write but can I get off my arse and write them? No.

Fandom(s) involved: a large collection of RPS fandoms. That second one is a massive crossover. XD

What you're looking for from the challenge: Just to get these finished. I really want to be able to start posting Glitter soon so I'd like that done. And yes. The more I get done now before uni starts, the better.

What you could offer other participants yourself: Encouragement cookies? They seem to work for almost everyone. :D I might be up for word wars/writing sessions too if they're at the right time.

Level of Challenge: I've been writing an 'episodic' story for years, and it's high time I finished the one I posted a teaser for a little while back. Don't know how long it'll be, but I'd like to finish at least one story.

Fandoms involved: popslash

What you're looking for from the challenge: I think what I most need is a *deadline* and the impetus to get started, so this seems worth a try. Progress checks and cheerleading won't hurt!

What you could offer other participants yourself: I'll try to be encouraging! Also beta help, particularly if anyone needs help making a story sound British. I may not be familiar with many of the other canons involved, but I'm very happy to cast an eye over language and spelling.
