Hello!
If you’re seeing this at the beginning of your day, what’s your writing plan?
- I plan on doing research
- I plan on drafting
- I plan on writing something new
- I plan on working on an existing piece
- I plan on sending off some writing to my beta
- I plan on posting today
- I plan on taking a break
- I need to sort out some Life Stuff
- I plan on driving to the seaside to watch the dolphins leap
- None of the above, I plan to do something else (please do share 😊)
If you’re seeing this at the end of your day, how did the writing go? Did you do any of the above? If you didn’t, what did you do instead?
Optional discussion: Do you prefer to have long chunks of time for writing or do shorter sessions work better for you?

Date: Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 14:45 (UTC)I actually got a little tiny bit of writing done today 😂 I've gotten to the point where I'm now editing around the long monologue the whole story has been leading up to, and as someone who primarily writes scripts, I'm once again struggling to convey emotion in the performance u-u)

Date: Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 21:52 (UTC)I like to write in a few sessions 20-30 minute blocks with friends, if possible! It takes me a long time to get focused, but I can be peer pressured :P

Date: Monday, June 3rd, 2024 15:26 (UTC)I can understanding finding sprints stressful! I think I've failed at them so many times that it ceases to bother me, I'm just like lol welp, borked that one :D I like to say "the first one is a warmup!!!!"

Date: Monday, June 3rd, 2024 22:54 (UTC)Haha it’s fun to sprint with people who are chill for sure, maybe what I should do is start sprinting alone. I wonder if that would work! Also yeah, I tend to find the first sprint in a series the slowest. Helps me to get into the zone though!

Date: Monday, June 3rd, 2024 00:43 (UTC)I like both long chunks and shorter periods. I find I write better when I can really get into the zone, and having uninterrupted time helps me get there and helps me get a ton out. But it also works against me because sometimes I end up whiling away all the time and wondering what the hell I did because I got no writing done. And having the pressure of "I only have this thirty-minute block today, and that's it" has actually worked some writing wonders in the past.

So shorter chunks teach me how to make the post of not having a lot of time, or that's the hope anyway >:D

Date: Monday, June 3rd, 2024 10:54 (UTC)I definitely prefer long, uninterrupted chunks of writing time. It can take me a little bit to get into the right headspace, and like to stay there whenever possible. I will say that when the writing begins to slow, I do find sprints/pomodoros helpful. Still need the breaks to be quiet and undistracting though.

Date: Monday, June 3rd, 2024 12:24 (UTC)Yeah same for me basically. Although I tend to prefer some sort of background or ambient noise because blocking that out helps me focus and get into the zone, as strange as it may sound.
