Date: Thursday, June 20th, 2024 06:31 (UTC)No beta we die like mneI've always liked the idea of having beta reader(s), but after a handful of Experiences*, I've discovered that I really don't want one in practice. I'm very reliable at catching my own mistakes and since I'm pretty much only writing for my own enjoyment, I don't really care enough to do more than what I do now.
*Most notable Experience being the repeating disappointment of "I think X should happen" when that's neither what I asked for nor wanted. It is truly a rare day when I ask for advice on where a story is going or what should happen next. I have spent too much of my life being told how I should do things based on other people's expectations; I certainly don't want that in my Fun Writing I Do For Fun When I Want Fun Times.
