I got unconventionalcourtship finished yesterday, it came in around 3000 words so I'm pleased with that and I printed off a copy to do initial pen edits while I'm on nights this week.

One of my fandom friends often looks things over for me and when they're unavailable I try to do my own editing but with being severely dyslexic I tend to miss loads of things anyway.

So far this week of "having more time" has not been very productive either in terms of word count or cartoon butts.

I really miss having beta readers. I've had a handful of really dedicated ones over the years and thankfully am still on good terms with most.

In a truly shocking turn of events, I actually wrote today! (Genuinely, it's shocking, because I have been in some of the most intense nerve pain I have ever been in in my life. One day, I'll figure out if there's a pattern to the Bad Pain/Writing Day Venn diagram, but that day is not today.)

No beta we die like mne

I've always liked the idea of having beta reader(s), but after a handful of Experiences*, I've discovered that I really don't want one in practice. I'm very reliable at catching my own mistakes and since I'm pretty much only writing for my own enjoyment, I don't really care enough to do more than what I do now.

*Most notable Experience being the repeating disappointment of "I think X should happen" when that's neither what I asked for nor wanted. It is truly a rare day when I ask for advice on where a story is going or what should happen next. I have spent too much of my life being told how I should do things based on other people's expectations; I certainly don't want that in my Fun Writing I Do For Fun When I Want Fun Times.
