I posted! And I got some incredibly flattering feedback, so I'm a happy little fanfic writer now. \o/
What feels a little funny is that I never got to write the part that made me start on this fic. My beta reader suggested to scratch the last two scenes, and she's right, the story seems to be working better for it, but... It just feels odd knowing that there would have been more. Maybe I'll write those parts as a separate fic at some point.
So, that probably means I should tackle my goals fics next.
Well done for posting. Was it the fic you talked about at the session? Most of the readers won't know that there was going to be more to it so they will see the story differently...and perhaps even imagine what follows for themselves.
Sometimes I find that scenes can stand alone quite well as fic in themselves. And the reader can join the dots if they want to.
Yep, that's the one. And it was a good place to end it, so it's not like it feels cut off - maybe forcing an additional scene would have done the story more harm than good, anyway. (Writing did feel a lot like forcing at that point.)
I didn't get my outline done as planned but I got my 200 words done for the day and all my snippets amalgamated in one place. In my defense, we got a chocolate lab puppy on Saturday and she is one of the cutest things ever.
I wanted to plan but am finding its a lot harder to plan editing than it is writing.
I feel a need to edit on print outs and that's messy, but at least you can see everything at once, which is impossible on the screen. I don't know how to plan editing. Daily goals worked for writing but have so far failed for edits. 'A chapter a day' is just too vague. Perhaps I should edit a set word count per day to start with, say 2K. My beta-to-be is NaNoing which makes me loathe to disturb her, which in turn is slowing me up.
I hope I can pick up this week though as last week was a nonevent for work reasons. Still it forced a break and I hope that will give me some perspective.
I was able to finish rewriting one scene that needed to be changed from the fourth chapter of my Big Bang. I then finished wrapping up the draft of the eight chapter, but bleh realized the idea I had in mind might be totally unrealistic and unneeded, which could determined if the story will end next chapter or the chapter after. Either way though, that means I'm really close to ending my Big Bang story so at least I should be glad for that.
