WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 30 -- Friday

Hello on Friday!  Looking back at the day today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet -- how did it go?

   - I wrote
   - I did some planning and/or research
   - I edited
   - I've sent my fic off to my beta
   - I posted today!
   - I'm taking a break
   - I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Looking forward, how are you planning to spend your weekend?

   - I'm going to make up for not writing all week by having a writing marathon
   - I'm going to keep writing at my current rate and see how it goes
   - I have other plans, but I might have time to get some writing in
   - I'm going to take a break from writing

I took a break yesterday, but since my weekend begins today, I am planning on writing as much as I can -- maybe not marathon level, but I should be able to get a decent amount of writing time in. I need to do some research and planning, and I also want to try to pick up where I left off on my longfic WIP that I keep poking at without making progress.

thought about my fic today, but it's 32 C (89.6 F) and my brain feels thoroughly cooked, so no actual writing got done. the weekend is supposed to be cooler, though, so i'm hoping to write a bunch tomorrow and the day after!

No writing tonight (pain increasing after long week), but I plan to write this weekend. With the Labor Day holiday, I should be good on holding off work-caused stress pain for a little longer.

Massive misshap occurred just after I finished my current story! Closed the window before Simplenote was done syncing what I just pasted in and on reopening the link, I lost 400 words of my writing 😵😱😭

Tried in vain to recover it for a while, then literally unleashed cries of despair and tore at my hair while alone in my room. It was pretty late, yet I wanted to buckle in and rewrite all that's gone, since the ending was still fresh in my mind. What motivated me were ideas for new stories I wanted to start.

Some false starts in writing the ending all over again as I was at first determined to put back together the lines that I liked. Then I just caved in to instead write a newish version and ended up with more words than I initially wrote!

The main lesson learnt is to write with a digital tool that enables file recovery. Through looking up alternatives to Simplenote, I discovered Upnote and created an account. It has many of the features I'd like for writing and editing stories, and so far more pleasant than other writing apps I've relied on. But it's only been a day since I've copied over my stories to Upnote and also edited my latest story, and so I shall see in the near future whether it'll be good to stick with Upnote.
