Hello on Tuesday -- and also on Wednesday because I am away and won't be able to post a check-in! How are things going in the world of fic?
Did you write?
- Yes!
- No!
- Not yet!
If yes, what kind of writerly activity did you engage in? How do you feel about it?
If no, what were the obstacles/situations that affected your writerly pursuits? What will you do differently tomorrow to get more writing done?
If not yet, because the day hasn't gotten going yet, what kind of writing activity are you planning (or hoping) to accomplish?

Date: Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 07:11 (UTC)Then on to the next fic! Starting one that would take longer to finish. To keep my mind from getting daunted by the estimated wordcount, I've taken to logging each day's writing with numbers that are as small as possible. For example, if I wanted to write 1k words a day, I'd break it up into 5 writing sessions of 200 words each. My writing tracker just reflects how many sessions out of 5 that I get done on that day, centreing the record on the smaller number '5' instead of '200' or '10,000'. I've been thinking numbers are like any other symbol with emotional connotations and manipulating them could allow us to manage our emotional states.
In the middle of writing, I had to look up vacation dates for universities and high schools in Japan, along with the season and weather corresponding to those dates for choosing what the characters would wear. Back when I was writing a K-pop University AU, I looked up the same kind of information but for a Korean context. CompilIng background information of a fic and sharing it as general reference material for writers of different fannish interest would be a cool side project, that is as long as I could keep it up while completing my actual stories with minimal stress.
