Super late for discussion time, but, if anyone's feeling talkative, let's go:  If you were tasked with creating a profession-based AU (or, say, a cozy mystery series, if original fiction), what would your pick be?  It could be a job you've had in the past, one you have now, one you trained for, one that a loved one did, etc.  For example, mine would be trucking/the logistics industry, which is the day job I just escaped left.  We've all seen coffee shop AUs, but I can say that I've never seen a trucking AU... yet.

Trucking AU sounds great for canons with characters that have big muscles for hauling stuff or a big brain for tracking logistics /doesn't really know anything about trucking or logistics

I'd like to see a tech startup AU. The long hours are a convenient premise to get adult characters to see each other a lot on a day to day basis and the fast-paced, improvisational nature of tech startups is pretty fascinating. Lots of potential there to bring out the best and worst of anyone.

It also has great opportunities for "enemies to lovers" type stories between office workers and dock workers. Ask me how I know, lol

Ooh, a tech startup would make a really cool AU! Even light on the actual tech part, there's so much potential for character-driven conflict.

Yeah intimacy can be a double-edged sword for small, scrappy start-ups. As evident from The Social Network 😂 After writing the above comment, I actually thought of an AU idea involving a tech start-up in the ship's backstory. Whether it's possible to keep the tech light depends on how compact I can keep the story 🤪

I finally typed in the handwritten pages that have been building up the last few weeks. Not as many actual words as it should be, but it's all good in every way.

I've never been much for AU's but I like "going undercover" in various roles that if full-time would qualify as AU's.

Heck yeah, undercover work! I definitely feel like there's never enough undercover tropes, with all the variety and fun that can bring.

I've been dealing with a health issue that has worn me out so I have not been writing. Now I've been to the doctor and have some meds, so hopefully I will be back on track soon!
