Hey everyone! Sorry this post is so late, I got distracted by the shiny of new blogs...

How is the writing coming along today? Are you
- writing?
- editing?
- researching?
- betaing?
- taking a break?

Discussion topic:

What do you do when you just don't seem to have any inspiration at all? Do you just accept it, or do you have some clever tactic to find new inspiration?

I'm writing/revising today--not much on this month's challenge fic, but on my Narcissa fic.

Mostly I accept it. If I really want to write, I'll read through different fics, hoping one of them will catch my attention. Sometimes, I just put the writing aside and refresh the muse by reading or watching TV/movies.

I wrote! For the first time in days. I did really well burning through my Kaleidoscope assignment & some Treats, but for most of a week after that I couldn't seem to find any words to work on other fic. Combo of being absolutely knackered plus just needing some time for my creative brain to recover, I guess.

So... this discussion topic is v. relevant to me! I was inspired by getting a Natsume Yuujinchou fic as my main gift in the Kaleidoscope exchange, which kickstarted me into writing snippets of my favorite characters. But in general when I don't have inspiration... I try to just give myself some time to have a bit of a break. I do think writing every day in 750 Words, even if I don't write fic in it, has helped, because it means that my brain is used to writing, is kind of... constantly warmed up? So when ideas do come up, I think my brain knows they're welcome & will hopefully get to be written down. & when I do have a dry spell, it seems easier to break out of it.

Sometimes I try to do something new that might jar ideas loose -- go to an interesting-sounding event (especially if it's something I wouldn't normally go to) or even just try walking home a new way. ^^;;

I accidentally plot. My plan for the weekend was to write the remix I'd signed up for, and somehow I ended up producing over 4000 words of something completely different. This is really a bit unsettling because I don't think I'm very good with plot and neither do I write long fics, and this feels like something that could grow into a very long, very plotty fic.

At the moment, all my inspiration seems to come from napping with my kitty. Cooking helps when I don't know how to tackle a scene.

Does editing and re-posting an anon challenge meme fic count?

Otherwise... What writing?! I know nothing about any writing!

I generally write on my laptop. If I'm uninspired and want to continue with something I've already started, I'll write out a paragraph or two in long-hand and continue from there. There's something about switching from using a keyboard to using a pen that helps unlock my inspiration.

And when I dry up again, I'll type up what I've written out and carry on with it, typing.

Taking a day off to get chores done and catch up on reading and tv shows (wee watching online XD). Hopefully I'll get started with with my help_japan fic or edit one of the chapters of my Big Bang (depending on my mood).

I pretty much just accept it if I don't feel inspired. I can be able to write the words out if I wanted to get it done.
