Writers, how go your stories? Tell us your progress!

Discussion topic:

How easily distracted are you by ambient noise? Say, do you need to have absolute quiet in your room to write, or can you sit down and write while waiting for the train on a crowded, noisy platform?

400 more words on the fic I've been battling since July ♥ that's a very good thing - and I love my Yuletide assignment too!

Today I'll be lunching with one of my CPs, brainstorming a bit on my current WIP, and then hopefully I'll be able to write later.

Discussion topic: It depends on the noise and how motivated I am. Radio is usually out, but music--like classical is okay. Traffic and other noise is fine. TV and children in the other room is fine. Even TV in the same room if it's something I'm totally not interested in is tolerable. Bottom line is that it just depends on the noise and (again) how motivated or into the story I am. If I'm on a roll, I can block out almost anything.

Um, I got my yule letter finished? Managed a little bit of planning as well , stuff that I had wanted to get done at the weekend but didn't because the puppy had to go to the vet.

I'm am the type of person who can be distracted by both absolute quiet or a busy crowded platform. Entirely depends in the mood I'm in. I have found simply noise (which someone here directed me to) very helpful though, especially when I'm too fidgety to settle.

I wrote 212 words!

I usually write to music at home (which can affect the tone of a fic in ways I wasn't expecting, judging from comments I get :D), but I do find it hard to write in ambient noise. Today I went to the library to write, and there were young children there, and I didn't get all the writing done I'd hoped to. (The kids were just acting like kids, no big deal). But I did get some done, then went home and wrote some more.

I wrote my Yuletide letter! And started thinking on my own Yulefic, even though I kind of need to reread.

And no, I don't get distracted by noise - I once sat down on the steps of a subway station and wrote a drabble. I _am_ distracted by music, though, I never write to music.

Got through 810 words today of my help_japan fic! Slow start as I'm still more or less figuring out how to approach it, but I'm getting there.

I can easily write through most noises, though I get distracted most by music with catchy tunes. Soundtracks from movies and songs with more easy listening music I'm cool with.
