I never make New Year's Resolutions (and have just realised that it isn't even the New Year yet!) but have decided to go back to the start of the elderly but respectable Colloquial Russian course from my schooldays, and have just been very carefully copying out all the letter-forms from Chapter 1 on lined paper in an attempt to improve my horribly messy Cyrillic handwriting :-)

Have you any post-Christmas resolutions?

I like to spend this time between Christmas and the New Year thinking about my goals (aka resolutions) and deciding which ones to pursue for real going forward. One of my goals will be to finish my WIP in 2026 (for real this time!). That was a goal for this year, but it was silly of me to think I could get that done along with retiring and packing up my life, moving, and resettling!

I wrote today! I took a bunch of notes to start the worldbuilding for the "Wonderland" suggested by various Christmas songs from the '20s-'60s. It's definitely going to be a long project, something I noodle on when I feel like it as opposed to getting it done by a certain date, which means I actually might finish it some time!!

This is the time when I also start thinking about any goals for the coming year. For the last couple of years, I've worked with a word or phrase for the year as an overall theme, so I might try playing with that again. I haven't really thought too much about what I might want to do yet. I think that'll be a task for this weekend!

Hmm, interesting idea. I've done that sort of thing with chapter titles (I like to have an overall theme for them, and as I write scenes first and divide them into chapters afterwards, the chapter titles tend to be done as a block), but never as a theme for an entire year's work...

After seven months of other things taking priority, I sat down, finished and posted another Portal/Terminator chapter. Still winging and pantsing it like there's no tomorrow, which is definitely not my usual style.

That's definitely incredibly scary when you're used to knowing exactly where it's all supposed to end up (even if not quite *how*!)
