It's another week of this month's challenge! How's it going today?
For discussion -- we've talked about how to come up w/ideas a lot, but I feel like it's always worth another discussion (because we're all lost without them...). I recently stumbled on this post featuring 15 ways to coax ideas out. Some of them people in this comm have mentioned using before, some of them were rather new to me. Did any of them surprise you? Is your tried-and-true method not mentioned? Is there anything that flat-out doesn't work for you off that list? Anything you're going to try?

What would happen? etc.) or other people: simply making a point to have fic discussion chats w/more people in my fandoms more often. Sleeping on it (though I usually mean overnight, not a power nap like the blogger suggests, heh) helps me often!

Date: Sunday, December 18th, 2011 22:10 (UTC)One thing Ive done a couple of times for writing practice is to take a whole month's worth of themes (prompts) from the LJ community 31_days here and cut and paste them into 750words (though a word processor would be just as good). Then I throw away all the ones that do nothing for me. Finally I bainstorm what's left until I get the 750 words done. A time limit might work too.

Date: Monday, December 19th, 2011 14:51 (UTC)These 15 ways to coax ideas are excellent, very practical things to do to get the mind working. I find my best idea-generator at the moment is music. I have a folder called "writing music mix" that never fails to help -- once I'm motivated to write! I think I'm going to try the cleaning around my immediate area idea, as well. There's just something about clutter that sometimes affects my creativity.
