WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 1 -- Sunday

 Hello on Sunday! What kind of a writing day has it been so far today -- or if today hasn't gotten going yet, how did you fare yesterday?

       - I've sent my fic off to my beta

       - I posted today!

       - I'm taking a break

       - I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

 

Sunday Discussion:  It's a new writing week, and that means a fresh start. Maybe you had a great writing week last week, or maybe last week wasn't the greatest for getting writing things done -- what kind of goals do you have for keeping up your momentum or starting off fresh this week?

Lately I've not gotten much writing done or even thinking about writing, but I am ready for a fresh start. Today I will open my writing folder and get out my rough paragraphs that open a new chapter and play around with them until something fresh and exciting happens!

I'm curious about your writing process after reading this comment. Do you write out a first rough draft for a chapter and then you fill it with the details?

I have an outline that I work from, but when I say rough paragraphs, I mean that the opening paragraphs for a new chapter is all I have right now, and I need to move on from that. If I reread them a couple times and maybe refine them, I am hoping the rest of the chapter will "come me." I usually write rather chronologically, so I tend to keep working at the opening until the rest starts to flow. I don't seem to be able to skip around and then fill in the blanks.

Ah, I see! That's pretty much the same approach as I have, I think.

I just took a break to read and post on DW after writing about 500 words, which is almost as much as I wrote throughout the entire week prior, so my Sunday has been surprisingly productive. (That said, I'm still wearing my pyjamas and it's 4pm, so perhaps writing is also going to be the most productive thing I'll do all day, lol).

Aside from that, I've had an unexpected urge to go back to researching the topic of Lycanthropy for that same fanfiction, but I'm still lacking the push to actually pull out my notepad and get started. Research also tends to just stop me from writing actively, so I'm just going to sit on it and wait to see if it'll pass on its own or if I'll still want to do it tomorrow or later in the week.

My goal for the coming week is trying to write at least half a page every day so I can wrap up this chapter before the month is over.
