Date: Tuesday, February 24th, 2026 09:45 (UTC)I don't know that I have a great source for prompts, but I do have a pretty big collection of prompts. A handful (or more) years ago, I got/found/bought some of those "1,000 Writing Prompts" type books and while the prompts aren't all great (or even all that good, depending), sometimes I'll still end up using the prompt in the way I think it should go just out of spite for the prompter.
Otherwise, I have a lot of saved art on my phone (fandom and non-fandom) that I go through when I want a prompt.
I also get a lot of writing prompts from random Tumblr accounts I follow. Some are legit writing prompt/writing focused accounts but a lot are just accounts that make my Idea! gears start turning.
A short (and incomplete) list of prompt/prompt-adjacent Tumblr accounts I follow:
- GYWO
- Various BINGO and/or fandom writing weeks
- Museum/Archive/Historical photo type blogs
- PublicDomainReview
- CatsOfYore
- LookCaitlin
- EnchantedBook
- TatteredTales
- Lots of art blogs
- ArtRevisited
- 70sSciFiArt
- The-Evil-Clergyman
- PulpCovers
- RetroSciFiArt
- DeepWaterFiction
- FicWIP
- Writing-Prompt-S
- ReversePrompts
- EvilWizard; Wizard-Council-Bureaucrat (neither of these are necessarily writing prompt focused, but they very often have some outrageous posts that start my writing parts working)

Date: Friday, February 27th, 2026 21:18 (UTC)I'll have a look for prompt books the next time I'm near the shops, they're not something I even considered.
I'm not on Tumblr but I sometimes come across prompt lists through my circle here or from doing a search for prompts.
That's a pretty big list, I'll be looking through those for a while yet.
