Phone post for today and really early too, because I'm on the road and I've been awake for far too long (would rather be in my bed).

I'm a little into a 10 hour coach journey and they are not fun, also it's baltic on this coach. Discussion topic: what are some of your favourite lines, scenes etc from the fics that you've written? It doesn't have to be from a new/recent piece it can be an old piece.

Of course it's friday so feel free to share snippets, ask for a beta, chat amongst yourselfs etc :)

What does that mean?

The predominant people group present as passengers, perhaps? Just guessing!

Hm, yeah -- I just don't see how it's relevant to the quality of the coach journey, I guess... ?

It might be if you don't speak their language and that's all you hear the whole trip. Not necessarily a non-quality coach journey, but it could get tiresome!

By way of explanation, I've traveled in trains where spoken English has been in the minority, and it does wear you out, even if everything else it just peachy!

It doesn't wear me out if people speak their own languages.

Having read the whole thread, I feel the need to say that baltic is slang in Scotland for freezing cold.

That actually makes tons of sense! That will teach me. Next time I'll not do any guessing and just wait for the explanation. ;-)

And since I'm here, I might as well update on how my day of writing went. The voice begging me to clean the house actually won, so no writing has happened. Yet. Maybe I'll feel more inspired with less clutter about me...

Cold, perhaps. As in the Baltic Sea is cold.

There will be no writing or editing or ficcing of any sort for the next two days. At noon, I am off on a short road trip of my own--we own a fireworks store about an hour south of where we live. Tonight and tomorrow are the busiest nights, so mu daughter and I go down there to work with my husband and son, who've been down there since the 19th.

Happy New Year everyone! See you in 2012. :)

Today and part of tomorrow are my last days to work on a Yule fic that I haven't completed yet. I managed about 500 words the other day, and I know where I'm going with it; I just have to sit down and write. I'm actually going to try to do some of that right now, even though the house is calling out to me to come clean it....

I think I can ignore that voice in favor of the story without too much trouble! :-D

A little bit of fic done, but not as much as I planned. Family were up from down south so that was a lovely distraction.

I had a few deadlines to meet today, so not much writing, but I was able to slip in a little editing time. Apparently I have trouble with the words "occurrence" and "necessarily," because they were misspelled in every single instance I found. In good news, though, it looks like the way I restructured this chapter should work. Also, I'm alarmed to find out that my first chapter is over 6,000 words so far, and I'm not even done yet. That's over half of a big bang right there. I have never written anything longer than about 2,000 words in my life, so it's a little terrifying to suddenly realize what I'm getting myself into here.

Despite the problem with 750 words (Where my account looked like it had been wiped clean due to a password problem), I continued using it. Writing like this feels like 'working out', practicing music or strengthening muscles. I'm very aware now of the difference between planning a story and actually producing prose. Luckily this month is been mostly the latter. So I know I have a stock of written, albeit unedited, fic.

Discussion topic: what are some of your favourite lines, scenes etc from the fics that you've written?
Off hand I really can't remember any particular lines Ive written. I think I need to take stock of things.
