Okay, folks: how's it going? I know a lot of people have exams or holiday stuff or other things going on at this time of year. Are you able to fit your fic in there somewhere? Are things going on at all, fic-wise?

Let us know how things are & get some sympathy/cheerleading/back-patting (delete as appropriate).

Me, I feel like I'm simultaneously zooming ahead & standing absolutely still on my fics! Woe!

I'm not sure how I'm doing! I'm behind where I wanted to be in line-editing by now, but that's because (a) a fandom essay I've been writing this week has run into about 10k of words, and (b) I've been rewriting as I go - and I'm cutting fairly large swathes of nonsense from chapter two*. I don't think I'll have much idea of how much I have to do until I get to chapter three, which is where the really major rewrites need to happen. I still feel like I should be able to get finished this month, though.

*On four consecutive pages, my protagonist asked himself four separate times if he's sure he wants to go into certain doom to rescue a complete stranger. It's not so much 'lookit the baby Doctor being scared' as it is 'FerChrissakes, I get it already, now move!' He's now down to one crisis of faith and some residual panic. Much better.

I do that all the time too! Characters say the same things -- sometimes different characters -- and/or I use the same general phrases over again, and I don't even notice while I'm writing but I go back to edit and I can't believe I did that. Then I rewrite and get rid of the repetition and feel much better.

Ahh, weasel words! Wordle is good for finding those, if you ever need a quick way to do it.

I am still editing, but I should be ready to send this section to my beta in the next few days. After that I need to do some canon re-watching, and then I'd better get going on the next section because right now my word count is fairly non-existent!

I'm in the exactly the same situation as you are! And damn, I wish I had a little more to say than that. *is sheepish*

I'm... late. Very late. I don't read Dreamwidth much.

I've turned in three out of five (nonfiction) papers. One of the others is mostly written, just needs references put in and an ending tacked on, except I don't care anymore. The other, I could write in a day - again, if I cared.

Things are somewhat better on the fic front: I have a sort-of-orig!fic that's been percolating for years, which has recently begun putting forth drabbly bits that fit into a rough outline. Hopefully I'm not jinxing it by posting (that's been known to happen), but so far, my four guys seem to be working together pretty well - beginning to be a team instead of stick-figure puppets.

(They've even started making remarks I didn't see coming. I had no idea it was going to be sunny out after they escaped from the mine until Jailbird started slanging Sarge about horse-stealing! lol That's always a good sign.)
