Hello All, How is the writing (editing? posting?) going today?
More particularly, what are your plans for this week?
For today's discussion question I thought I'd ask about your reading habits. While this is not dead on topic for the comm, I assume that everyone here also reads and there's some connection between that reading and your writing. I'll make tomorrow's topic about the writing side.
So...

Date: Monday, January 16th, 2012 16:58 (UTC)i'm going to nitpick the poll, in the grand spirit of internet polls!
for the first question, computer screen is the answer. I would -love- to put fics on my kobo to read, and I'm happy AO3 has a way to convert computer screen fics to ebook fic. I need to investigate this further, because I'm so hooked on my kobo. So hooked.
As for the second question, there isn't really an answer there that applies, though rec lists is closest...
I find most of my fic from the recommendations of friends and fic writers I follow. I know there's more ways to do it but generally it takes the enablization of a friend for me to go look.

Date: Monday, January 16th, 2012 18:03 (UTC)Reading fanfic . . . mostly I read on my computer or my iPad. I usually use archives so that I can choose to invest my time in fics that are complete. I am a fast reader and waiting for installments of WIPs is not my cup of tea. I do read from various and rec posts as well. I'm not too selective, though for most fandoms, ff.n is last choice for me.

Date: Monday, January 16th, 2012 20:16 (UTC)I started editing on a story I had tucked away (I usually have around 10 stories at any given time that I can expand on or edit). I've sent it off to beta and we've been rolling the ball back and forth a bit on some wonky bits that needed a re-write.
I wish I could write something entirely new, but I don't have that much time. When I'm busy I tend to get very brainclouded to the point where I can't focus on anything new, so I'm always glad I have something already written to work on. (I'm in the process of moving -- and when I'm done with that, I'll be spending time with my partner in Florida for about a month. Huzzah!)

Date: Monday, January 16th, 2012 20:42 (UTC)It's really interesting, actually. I used to get all my fic by randomly browsing ff.net, but now I tend to read mostly things recommended by my dwircle.

Date: Monday, January 16th, 2012 21:39 (UTC)I've also been editing a fic I really want to post this week. I'm feeling a bit more confident about it but still, it needs something.
My fandoms are all small, so there aren't a lot of places to look (no fandom-specific archives, etc.). Everything on LJ/DW seems to get cross-posted to ff.net or AO3 or both, so I just look there for the most part (predominantly AO3).

Date: Monday, January 16th, 2012 21:45 (UTC)Reading fic. I usually read on my blackberry, sometimes my laptop but my main internet and my USB internet block a lot of websites so it's not always easy. Fandom it depends if it's a small fandom then related comms and websites, if it's a big fandom I go by recs and whatever is on AO3. I avoid ff.net

Date: Monday, January 16th, 2012 22:48 (UTC)I mainly read on LJ and DW (though I do also visit the archives), and I'm pretty community based, though I agree that the bigger the fandom, the greater the need for reccers in order to navigate.

Date: Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 01:21 (UTC)In the process, I snuck in ~900 words on "Ovum" while waiting to see the doctor. This doesn't finish a chapter but it puts me well on the way to doing so; therefore I expect to finish and post it tomorrow sometime.
I access fic exclusively via computer (desktop or laptop), and mainly read fic on the Garak/Bashir comm over on LJ (it has a Dreamwidth sort-of mirror,

Date: Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 05:43 (UTC)I mostly read fics over at fandom communities as that's where I read higher quality fics. I do read some stories at A03 and FFnet, but usually only if someone had linked the story and I'm able to catch it.

Date: Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 06:55 (UTC)I read fic exclusively from my computer, and my fandom seems to only exist on ff.net. I don't think ff.net entirely deserves its bad rep, but I'd like to at least have options. Sadly, all the other fansites/communities I can find dedicated to it elsewhere are dead. :(
