WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 21 -- Saturday

Hello There! Well the weekend has arrived, which can mean a lot more or a lot less time for writing. What are your plans fic-wise?

How do you feel about what you've acheived in the last week and what are you aiming for in the next?

For discussion, as this seems to be the season for new challenges sign-ups, are there any you are doing, want to signal boost, or have simply noticed and think might be of interest to someone on this comm?

I really want to finish my (last?) fic for eastasianfandomgiftbag this weekend. Just... needs some editing, & I think it'll be ready. I meant to announce a writing session for later today, & I didn't, & I don't know if I'll end up doing one, sob. Though that would help.

This week I wrote a lot, some of which I'll actually use -- but I felt pretty stymied as far as editing, which is what I really wanted to move ahead on, so... frustrated.

I am starting a Natsume Yuujinchou fic exchange! It is nowhere near the point where signups will be ready (it doesn't have a name yet either >_< ) but if people are interested, details will definitely be posted in natsumeyuujinchou. I get hearts in my eyes thinking about it!!

Right now I'm doing yuri_challenge & really want to write my recipient at least 3 fics, but of my various drafts, only 1 is coherent enough so far. ^^;;; & I know that's all I'm obligated to do! Still, I rarely find multiple prompts from a recipient that make me really excited, so I want to do moooooore.

... definitely moving into the amnesty period for poetry_fiction b/c my prompt leaves me stumped. I really like the fic I did for that challenge last year, but I had to sit on it for months before I was able to finish it.

As I still have over a week before I'm back uni I'm just going to work on my big bang and also use my 2 remaining prompts for this months round of prompt_in_a_box because I want to have all 3 prompts written for a change.

I haven't really achieved anything of note, too much of the week ended up been used for essay editing thankfully all 5 are now handed in.

Considering signing up for casestory big bang but I'm not sure yet because I had to pull out of it last year. Every month there's a new round of prompt_in_a_box which is multi-fandom and also allows original fic and RPF, only real rule they have is that you are member when you sign up for the challenge.

My beta is still here (spending two weeks with me) so we have been doing All The Things that does not include writing. And today we're going ot the track. So I have been a big epic fail!bot! :(

BUT I plan on doing a lot of writing when she leaves on Tuesday, and have been making notes of things to catch up on. Plus, I've found inspiration for a WIP that's been languishing for two years. Yay!!

I have done absolutely no writing this week, but I didn't really expect to. I got a challenge fic that was due posted last weekend, and that was good enough! I am hoping to do something with my WIPs today, though. It will probably be rereading or a bit of research to remind myself where the heck I am at, since it's been so long since I wrote anything on my WIPs. This coming week may be more settled than the week that just finished, so I am hopeful about making writing progress before the month is finished!

I have been enjoying the challenges I've signed up for lately, but they kind of distracted me from my WIPs, so I don't think I'll be signing up for any more for awhile!

I really, really want to finish this one fic before I become busy. It seems I'm infusing way more angst into it that it ought to have. Oops.

Plans for the weekend: actually get some words down on paper.

I've managed bugger all this last week so next week I really need to get a move on with my rough draft for smallfandombang.

I wrote ~4576 words last week, which is to make me very happy. And I wrote ~1640 more words today, finishing and posting a stand-alone short story, "Inevitability" (Garak/Bashir, O'Brien+Bashir, hints of O'Brien/Bashir).

I'm aiming to hit an equal word count next week, work schedules permitting.

For challenges, I highly recommend Dark Fest over on LJ. I wrote for them last year and had an excellent experience with it.

Its been fun doing the check-ins again. I wish I'd had more time to continue the discussions because there were some interesting ideas.

This week Ive been catching up with RL work, reading and editing my 750words (which are of highly variablr quality), and being purturbed by the 'new' canon (no new ideas yet).
Next week I'm going to push myself to finish a particular fic that really isn't very far from done.

I'm not signed up for any challenges yet, but Porn Battle is coming in a week - if I don't get all embarassed and go hide.

Overall the week was a success. I got a lot of revisions done.

Today I had my writing meeting, which went well for the most part. After the meeting my critique partners and I brainstormed on a project for each of us. It was very fun and productive. :)

I think I've finally got my sleep cycle straightened out again, which is always hugely important to my writing progress. I actually got 1,200+ words of my Big Bang fic done this morning. It was only the sneaking/spying prelude to the climactic action, but it moved things along--and one of my guest OCs did something I didn't expect, in a good way. *g*

I have until February 15th to complete a final draft, so onward and upward!

Last night I posted the last NCIS Daily Drabble! Can't believe it - I made it through nine seasons from July 1st to yesterday, posting every single day except for a brief hiatus over Christmas. I'm dropping down to posting weekly now, and that will continue for as long as NCIS is on the air.

So now it's on to casestory and other things, and hopefully I'll be able to rearrange my sleep schedule now. My beta for the drabbles is in the Pacific time zone, which meant she couldn't even look at my stuff until at least 10 pm my time. My personality being what it is, I wouldn't even start watching the episode until 10 pm, and because I watch each episode twice before I start writing, I sometimes ended up posting at around 3 am which is simply ridiculous. That's going to stop now.

Tomorrow I'm going to focus on finishing my outline for casestory and maybe knock off this coming week's drabble a little early. I'm quite eager to get back to writing things longer than 100 words!

Getting some edits on my Big Bang done over what my beta and I talked about last night. One suggestion she had was expanding the conversation between the two characters. I haven't gotten to do that yet, but I might get to that tomorrow (need to stop myself from getting distracted >.>; ).

I had been pretty busy this week so didn't get very much editing done. At least I'm able to get in touch with my current beta and had send off my help japan fic to another beta.

I kind of failed miserably at writing this past week. Today was the first chance I had to get anything recreational done, and then I spent it distracted and unmotivated (I swear, it was absolutely necessary to go through my iTunes library of 12,000 songs and rate my favourites. I did manage to bang out around 800 words, but I'm not sure I like where it's going. I am feeling rather inspired about potentially linking up a set of one-shots and making a series out of them. Self-contained, but related stories seem to be my thing lately.

My poery_fiction fic is in a limbo. I like the universe, bu I hate everything else.

I do finish several bingo fics ready to be betaed or to be posted. And I reach my monthly writing goal.
