Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 16:26 (UTC)(Actually I get most of my writing done first thing in the morning, before tackling my paying work. I'm usually able to devote at least a couple of hours to it, which (if I'm on a roll) can add up to quite a word count.)

Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 16:09 (UTC)Yuujinchou Exchange (due Mar 17 - 1K word min): 325 new words. I think I've gotten the ending worked out. Now to keep drafting. I'm to the part where the tension is climbing, so the pressure is on to make sure it grows at a steady pace and doesn't fall flat. I know, I know, word dump first, edit later! Current word count: 4,053
Help_Japan (due 18 years ago - 750 word min): No new words. Current word count: 3,666
I do manual labor and drive a truck, so unfortunately I can't write while working (though I'm nearly always mulling something over as I go). One of my biggest issues, actually, is that I'll have an idea on the job and not be able to make notes until an hour or more later, so often times I forget that bit of dialogue I came up with )or whatever else it was) by the time my hands are free. Very frustrating!

Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 21:08 (UTC)I am v. glad! I used to temp in an office that dealt w/truck safety over here, & I'd hear about truck drivers doing things like through checkpoints WHILE WATCHING A DVD & thinking that was totally A-OK! (or, say, punching the inspector when they noticed that the speed/mileage meter on the truck had been tampered w/.) ^^;;;;
Yay for figuring out the ending of your Natsume fic!! & yes, word dump!

Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 22:01 (UTC)I have considered getting one of those little mini-recorder things to talk into when an idea strikes, but it hasn't been a super priority since I don't write that much. But maybe one day I'll get one?
I keep doing the "just keep swimming" chant, haha. Word dump!

A Dictaphone might do the trick for those bits and pieces, though. :-)

Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 16:16 (UTC)As to the question, not at all, these days. The most I've done in years is jot a quick note so I don't forget something. Sometimes I miss the days when I was a phone receptionist, because I wrote and wrote and wrote while working. But then I remember the actual job and the actual pay and... not so much. :)

Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 21:09 (UTC)I rarely write fic at work, partly because I always have nosy coworkers sitting near me, but over the past week (while the nosiest/closest has been out of the office) I've gotten down a few thousand words during the day. Also b/c I get into work early I've been trying to get my 750 Words done in the morning, which seems to be working fairly well.

Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 22:27 (UTC)I've written at work. One of my stories was written almost entirely during an extremely slow summer at work. I would never write in class, however - classwork is for knitting! ;-)

Date: Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 22:27 (UTC)I'm a college student, so I actually write in class all the time. I'm one of those students who generally does the reading before the lecture, so once i"m in class having it explained once is enough for me, which leaves a lot of time to write in between topics/activities.
