By the way, looks like a new cell phone will soon be in my life. Wondering if there are some that make posting to dreamwidth, etc. easier?

Checked at the AT&T store yesterday, and yes, AT&T is responsible for the fits I've been having. They don't like that I use one of the "old phones," and implied therefore, are using these stunts to move everyone to new phones. I have only had mine and its predecessor for a little over a year!

Ah, speeded-up planned obsolescence.
