Friday! That means two whole uninterrupted days for writing coming up, right? (Well, for those of us with (1) day jobs and (2) no specific plans for the weekend. Which, um, isn't likely to be too many of us.) How about, "Friday! You've survived a working week; reward yourself with a shiny something!"
Discussion Topic: Rewards: do you have a way to reward yourself for meeting your goals? Every 3,000 words, get a cupcake, or every time you send a fic to your beta, re-read an old favorite ficlet even if you "really don't have time for it right now?" Do you post announcements of accomplishment so your friends can help you bask in the joy of achievement, or just quietly reflect on your own awesomeness? Do you use (hey, maybe we could all use!) something like Chore Wars to track fanfic progress and reward yourself for getting it done?

Date: Saturday, April 7th, 2012 03:06 (UTC)When I'm writing well, writing is its own reward. When I'm not so motivated, the dread of word count debt moved me to go, so you can say I work on the system of avoiding the stick.

Date: Saturday, April 7th, 2012 13:17 (UTC)I think my reward for accomplishing something with writing is to allow myself to not feel guilty about not writing for a time afterwards! However, that tends to escalate into procrastination later, and then I'm doing things like "allowing the WIP to simmer" even when I could be working on it. ;-) I wonder if I should try the cupcake idea instead....?
That Chore Wars looks like a thing that would help me today with my housework, and the reward would be writing time! :-D
