Sorry I'm a bit late with this post -- it was one of Those Days where life happens at break-neck speed with no time to take a break.  Now that I have a chance to catch my breath, let's talk about writing!

How did you spend your Wednesday?
  • writing
  • planning (brainstorming, researching, outlining)
  • editing
  • posting
  • taking a break
  • dealing with Real Life

Discussion question for the day:  Have you ever killed off a major character in one of your stories?  If so, was it planned from the beginning?  Something unplanned but that you realized would be a good idea at some point?  How did your readers deal with that character's death?  Was it obvious to them that it was coming or was it unexpected?

I wrote! I ended up taking today off work for other reasons, but snatched some time away to write. I wrote about 1000 words on Pull the Stars from the Sky and finished my draft of chapter 2 and sent it off to my betas. \o/ Now for chapter 3... grar. I've reached the point where my plans are getting less detailed.

I've not killed anyone off in fic, yet (mwahahahaha). I've killed off characters in original fic, because it seemed appropriate at the time. Of course, not many readers of that yet, so I don't have any word on reactions. :)

Today was a writing and outlining day! I finished and posted the first chapter of a two-part NC-17 Bob/Megabyte story, "Ache", and the third part of my plotting of "Lethe's Curse", during which I've rediscovered how fond I am of Bob, bless his little "Hey, I've got anger management and impulse control issues!" heart. :)

The closest I've come to killing off a major character recently was in the Deep Space Nine story "Vicarious, where the "deaths' in question are the driving force of the story, and people seemed to really enjoy the ride. In an upcoming chapter of "Lethe's Curse" a very sympathetic secondary character will be slaughtered (literally), and I hope to make some people really uncomfortable in the process (especially Bob, who'd made it his job to protect the character in question). While her death will have plenty of hints leading up to it, it still won't be pleasant for anyone involved.

I wrote ~1500 words nd posted two fics.

I did kill off characters in my fic, because it's necessary and planned from the beginning. They're not yet posted so I don't know the readers' response.

Done with editing my [community profile] god_tier fic, so I'm waiting until Friday to post it. Also had been writing a bit of my help_japan fic. Still need to plot out the second part a bit more, but I want to at least get a head start.

For the most part I already plan out which characters I'll kill off. I would be sadden by that as I tend to think up backstories for them and thought they have potential, haha.

I actually killed off Jack Donaghy in a 30 Rock fic (which languishes half done), but he came back as a ghost who had to atone for his sins on Earth because he made a business deal with Jesus in Heaven. Once he did that (with Lemon's help!) he could be returned to life. There was a subplot involving Kenneth and baby ducks.

I should finish that. It was a lot of fun, but I lost interest in it when the show got so crappy and un-fun last season.
