So, what's the deal today? Have you been writing diligently, googling important stuff, contemplated your plot, or something else?

Date: Friday, April 20th, 2012 04:16 (UTC)I've had a couple of shocks when my totally awesome and original ideas were also thought of and used by someone else -- it's an eerie feeling to realize that an idea you thought was amazing and original could actually be thought of by another person. When it happens, I am upset at first, but I get over it quickly. I usually stick to my plan and write it anyway (or leave it as it is without changing it), especially when it's really an awesome idea and I truly did think of it without being influenced by someone else! Once, though, my idea was used by someone I knew before I got around to posting my own version, so after recovering from the shock, I made sure my version was different enough that it didn't look like I'd copied her, while still being able to keep similar to what I'd wanted to convey in the first place.

I have a bad habit of stumbling upon a fic idea that sounds great and then getting horribly disappointed. So sometimes I will... um, borrow an idea and improve on it (as far as I'm concerned, LOL)
