Another day has come and gone, so now it's time to check in.
How many new words did you write today? Did you reach your goal? Were you editing instead? Researching? Or was today a day of rest?

When writing we're often encouraged to "paint a picture with our words" to help the reader visualize a scene. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we can further enrich the atmosphere and our description by including the other four senses. This can be very challenging, but it can really bring a story to life, too.
For this exercise, try to write a descriptive paragraph using all five senses: Sight, Sound, Smell, Touch, and Taste. Even if it's completely overkill, be sure to include at least one example of each sense as you let the reader experience the scene.
Feel free to post your results here if you wish (or link us to them).

Date: Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 23:59 (UTC)This exercise is a good reminder to me to involve a wider range of senses as I write. I think I'm going to try it out with a smallish scene I have been contemplating for a short challenge piece. Maybe this is what I need to get motivated today! :-D
