The Return of the Son of Bad Idea Bear. Sometimes I have really, really bad ideas for fic. The compulsion to write them is astounding because they are awful/unattainable/unreadable concepts. Once in a while, I pull one off, and it makes things so much worse because I did it once! Is anyone else ever visited by the Bad Idea Bear?

Date: Saturday, May 5th, 2012 03:31 (UTC)I dunno, my ideas seem weird until I start working on them. The collaboration is a Sherlock/Criminal Minds crossover, which a friend suggested to my beta and I as a joke. But we went, "Heeeeeeey," and now have this enormous story plotted. :) We'll see how it works.

Date: Saturday, May 5th, 2012 06:51 (UTC)I spent some time listening to music that I've associated with the story I'm working on, Faith. I also perused screen caps of my two characters to get my brain and heart on the same page. I apparently have no trouble "getting in the mood" and hearing their voices when I'm at work, but put me in a quiet room and I have to work at it, lol.
Then I put on an appropriate Pandora channel, started a timer for 45 minutes, closed my eyes and typed. I didn't worry about what I was writing, for the most part, I simply wanted to do.
I'll probably end up dropping the majority of it -- I'm pretty sure the scene starts closer to where I stopped for the night -- but it's there.
So yay!
I also had a Bad Idea Bear earlier today. Who knows if it'll rear its head again.

Date: Saturday, May 5th, 2012 07:41 (UTC)I can't say I've ever been visited by Bad Idea Bear. I mean I might have the ideas but generally speaking they are content to live in my head.
