Discussion: We all have characters that we love writing but what about the characters we love but don't (or can't) write. As an example I adore Lilly Rush but I struggle to write her so I tend to only produce occasional pieces in Cold Case fandom.
Who do you love but don't (or can't) write? Is it the fandom? Is it that they're written to your idea of perfect and you feel you don't need to?

I finished and posted a ~2500 word Lethe!verse story, "Restless", plus an analysis of why the two main characters in that ficverse work together the way they do. Oh, and a fan artist submitted a piece of artwork inspired by "Restless", which pleased me tremendously!

I honestly can't think of a character that I love who causes me that sort of problem. When I fall in love with a character I get their voice in my head and usually the problem lies in making them shut the heck up! :)

I needed an option between 'good' and 'not good'. :P I am wrangling with pacing problems like whoa in this chapter. :P

Obviously, I love Sherlock. The character and the show. But I have an INCREDIBLY difficult time writing his POV. John is a piece of cake. Apparently the fandom's writers are split, you can either write one or the other well. :) I mean, I do write him, but it's MUCH harder, and I usually need a lot more revision to get it right.

I have a lot of difficulties with Vulcans. I don't understand them, really. I get Spock, because he struggles with himself. I can identify. But in my Enterprise fandom, I have such a hard time writing T'Pol. Even if she isn't the "typical" Vulcan.

No writing yet today, hope to do some in a bit.

That's a good question. Some characters, I just have too many FEELS about to write well. Like Sam & Gene from Life on Mars. I'm kind of incoherent about them. That's about the only time I have a lot of trouble in fanfic.

Oh, and when a character has blatantly been buggered up—I'm trying to think of who and blanking, probably because I try to pretend characters like that don't exist. But there are some... you know when writers get switched or a character is obviously crammed into the wrong role or production is rushed on a game? When I can't make a character work using their canon information, it's hard. I have to either leave them out or come up with some reason they're different. :p If I can, I say "fuck it" and take the most likely version of them from an episode or story arc and run with that. Comics are terrible for this because of the crazyass changes between writers. Sometimes it's like they haven't even read the run that came before theirs.

Today I had mostly been researching. Beta A for my FMA Big Bang suggested a couple things I should look up and put in the story, so I had been looking through my old history books. XD I still need to check over one other thing, but it shouldn't take too long tomorrow.

For the most part I can be able to write some characters very easily, some decent but will need to revise here and there (like the main characters for my FMA Big Bang lol), and some I don't write as I'm afraid I won't ever get right. D:
