Discussion: When it comes to big events in RL (moving house, death, marriage, having kids, and anything else that I can't think of just now). Do you find the time to write? Do you leave it until things settle down? Do you try and keep up with what you're working on?

I didn't have a lot of time today for writing, but I did manage to sort through some old notes and found some stuff I had forgotten I'd jotted down, which could come in handy in a couple of places. So that was profitable in a sense.

During some upheavals, I've used writing to keep me going, and actually found the time to write. During others, it's been the thing that suffered as a result of the upheaval. About 4 years ago I had a close family death and a move shortly afterwards and then involvement in a new job with an unpredictable schedule, and I've been much less productive since.

When my daughter was born, I stopped writing for a while. I was too exhausted to think. I suspect that many big life events would be like that for me. I only have so many spoons. Writing is good for me, but it has a cost, too.
