When you're writing, what length do your stories generally turn out to be? Or another way of putting it, what's your average word count per piece? It's easy to check this via FF.net--they give you that information. :)

I'm loafing today, because it's my birthday. ;-) However, I'm hoping to use some of that loafing ME time to do some writing, since that's part of enjoying myself. We'll see if writing or a nap wins out....

I have a WIP that's 125K and going strong, ugh -- and another that's 20K and not finished yet. However, for my one shots, they tend to be around 1,500 words or so; sometimes more, sometimes less.

I have a daily goal of 500 words... did over 1,000 today, so I'm pretty pleased. Now I just have a ton of betaing to do.

As for word count, according to FF.Net my average is 16,677 per story, but my shortest story is about 800 words and my longest WIP is currently at nearly 125K.

I got about 350 words today. I was hoping for more, but it's better than nothing (and the day's not over yet).

I write a lot of stories between two and five thousand words, mostly for challenges and exchanges. Left on my own, my stories grow longer. I get ideas that turn into epics. I'm doing my best not to post more works in progress, so those are sitting around on my hard drive (except for one that I've turned into stories in an arc as opposed to one long, long chaptered fic).

I wrote and posted! 1681 words of something that really is an insert into a longer fic I posted as complete a while back.

Average length of fics... I write drabbles, which pull my wordcount down - I am very strict when I write drabbles and all mine are 100 words exactly. I've also written two multi-part fics which are about 20,000 words each. I guess, on average, a one-shot fic these days is anywhere between 1000 and 2500 words, so averages out at about 1750 words. Not bad, for a concise writer!

After around a week of no writing, finally wrote a bit of my help_mindanao fic! Thought of an extra scene to write and went with it. I have around 200 words written, going to write a bit more tonight since I still have some time.

My one shots and chapters tends to be around 500 to 5000 words. I have one shots that are over 10,000 words though, lol.
