Halfway through the week! Hope everybody is doing well.
And here, let's resort to a Fanfic Flamingo:

Have you been part of the crackdown? Where do you generally post your stuff? AO3? FF.net, LJ/DW? Somewhere else entirely?

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 12:14 (UTC)I tend to stick to posting to AO3 and FF.net. Sometimes I'll post ficlets to Tumblr as I write them as well. Tumblr is pretty much my fandom home these days.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 12:40 (UTC)I have some old fics up on FF.net, but consider their admins to be a huge bag of dicks and now steer clear of them. All my posting these days is done on AO3 (where the people running the asylum actually seem to give a damn about the inmates), and I often post previews/fic bits to Tumblr, just because I can.
The current situation on FF.net (and the storm of surprised squawking from fans) has me facepalming like crazy, because the writing was on the wall ten years ago when the admins got the screaming meemies over "adult" material and screwed their user base over a barrel the first time. I have one M-rated fic on the site, but I'm not particularly concerned about losing it since I've got it archived at my end.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 13:33 (UTC)I used to post almost exclusively on LJ but these days it's DW and AO3 but with AO3 I tend to be selective about what fics I post there. I have never used FF.net at all because I didn't like it, and still don't.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 13:40 (UTC)I have two things at FF.net -- I just haven't been in the practice of posting there. Neither one is in any danger from the crackdown. I have thought of putting my WIPs up there, but the formatting at FF.net is awkward at times and I think it would be too much of a pain. I am a bit new to Ao3, but I'm starting to put up my stuff there now; I also post at LJ/DW and there are several fandom-based archives where I post regularly.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 14:16 (UTC)Have been working on a Glee fic! I wrote a lot longhand when away for the weekend with my family, and again yesterday at work.
At home, I started constructing a Scrivener file for the fic. 'Though, instead of like, putting in my text-thus-far into the document or working on my outline, I mostly filled the "Research" folder with pictures from Tumblr and DeviantArt. I REGRET NOTHING.
I haven't been part of the crackdown, :O
I typically only post to AO3 (although I always link to it from my DW!). Last night, though, I re-discovered my fanfiction.net profile, where I mostly posted things while I was still in high school. SO EMBARRASSING, I could only bring myself to skim the most recent fic (2005), and I had to ignore the rest, bwahaha.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 14:32 (UTC)That one fanfic is also in a fandom where the only real fanfic presence is on ff.net; any fanfics in a fandom where there's actually a presence on AO3 is going to be posted only to AO3 because sod ff.net. I might also link to it on a hypothetical fic on an LJ or DW comm for whatever fandom, but the fic itself will be posted at AO3.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 16:50 (UTC)I am a rule-follower, and when they said no explicit material, I obeyed, so I don't anticipate having anything taken down. I haven't looked. I'd be notified, right? *looks around*
OTOH, I haven't entirely forgiven them for taking down a story because someone claimed I was plagiarizing a movie. I had a quote from a movie in the dialogue, and I didn't attribute it to the movie, because it was a WIP, and I planned a surprise ending where what looked cool turned out to be just a quote from a movie. I hadn't gotten that far, yet, and they took the story down and dinged me for plagiarism. So I re-posted and paraphrased the quote, but sheesh.
I also post at AO3 and here on Dreamwidth.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 17:17 (UTC)Haha haven't been part of the FFnet crackdown since none of my fics I posted there are rated M. Besides FFnet I post my stories at AO3, Dreamwidth, and LJ. I also post at forum boards too, but only for Pokemon haha.

Date: Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 20:36 (UTC)It's mainly LJ/DW and AO3 for my posting. I used to post on ff.net but I went through a spell of writing nothing but porn so I stopped and haven;t got back into the habit. I keep meaning to though, especially the couple of things from small fandoms.
