We're inching ever-so-slowly towards the end of the week (I know, it's only Tuesday ^^;; ). How's the fic going today?

The flip side to yesterday's discussion topic: what do you feel like is the weak point in your writing, the thing you strive to improve the most? Have you ever gotten any good advice about it? Found any techniques that work for you?

That's exactly my problem! Short situational ficlets are my thing, crossover what-ifs and the like.

(As for why I'm saying 'post' in a lot of these polls is because I'm finally feeling motivated to post a lot of my old stuff on AO3. Yay!)

Didn't do anything today. I'm coming down with something, so hopefully that won't ruin my time off which I hope to use for writing, eventually. Tomorrow? We'll see. Writing SOMETHING is the plan.

I think the weak point in my writing is actually spending consistent time doing actual writing. I am very easily swayed away from working on my writing projects by RL and things that other people want me to do for them. There is a lot of good advice out there for developing discipline in writing, but so far I haven't found the magic answer yet. Probably because there isn't one! I just have to actually do it to develop discipline! ;-)

I met my word count goal today. Given how frustrating my RL projects were today, I consider that quite an accomplishment.

The weak point in my writing is definitely anything that requires me to effectively convey emotions, particularly strong ones (love, loss, fear, etc.). Lately I've even noticed myself unconsciously trying to write around or gloss over emotional scenes in an effort to avoid having to write about the characters' feelings in any depth. It's really difficult to make myself go back and rewrite it so that I'm showing and not just telling or glossing over what's happening, but even then I'm left feeling inadequate and dissatisfied with the results more often than not. It's something I know I need to work on, but I really hate doing it. It never sounds right, no matter what I try.

Haven't done anything writing related today, still deciding if I'll spend tonight doing a bit of writing or reading fic, haha. I did however got finished editing my [community profile] fma_ladyfest fic last night and been slowly writing that Homestuck fic. Thinking over how I'll approach the next part of the story (flashbacks or dialogue).

On yesterday's question, my strong point seems to be plot as I always am able to tie several scenes together nicely. My weakest point is probably also emotions as I tend to get the action going but keep forgetting to slow down for character development haha. I'm able to deal with emotions a little better, but I still got a lot to learn yup.

I managed 860 words! On one hand yay! more words, on the other, jeez I feel like I'm only creeping along through my outline.

My weakest point is definitely actually sitting down to write.
