Date: Sunday, July 22nd, 2012 21:03 (UTC)I have some thoughts on how to start another little thing I'm working on that needs finishing by the end of the month, so I'll probably strike while the iron is hot and keep working on it.
I've learned lots of things through research, most of which is fun and exciting and wonderfully useful (if not yet then someday). Sometimes I learn things I don't want to know, that prove that my cool idea won't actually work! :-/ But I think the most fun thing I did in the course of research involved a floating object and running water. I needed to know how long it would take a lightweight object to reach a certain point as it floated in a river current, so I timed a stick floating in a stream and made my calculations. Thankfully, the time fit what I needed and I didn't have to stretch the truth for the purpose of the story!
