Greetings on Monday!  What kind of day was it for you today?

Did you write?
  • Yes!
  • No!

If yes, what kind of writerly activity did you engage in?  If no, what were the obstacles/situations that affected your writerly pursuits?

For discussion:  At what age do you remember thinking you wanted to write? What do you remember writing when you were young? When did you first start sharing your writing with the public?

Writing/editing madly for a challenge due in a week. And trying to figure out a title for it. Would you consider a discussion question on how to come up with titles?

Oh, man. I was writing fic back at, um, 11? I even showed one (fanfic) to my teacher, who quite kindly edited it for me, mentioned a couple things I should watch for, and told me it was a good job and fun, keep it up. *Great* teacher, we loved her dearly.

Hey, great -- thank you! Usually I either know the title or can come up with one from Bartlett's but 6500 words in, my characters have made the title inaccurate. You know: Arrrgh!

Today was hectic and although I got home much later than I expected I got a little editing done but not as much as I wanted. I may transfer the file to my tablet and do some more while I'm travelling down to England tomorrow.

I actually started out writing music when I was about 7 or 8 and from that I moved on to lyrics. I wrote my first fic when I was 10 but I didn't post anything till I was 15 or 16 not sure if they're still online though.

Forced myself to write a bit on an older fanfic - Pirates of the Caribbean, with the heat around here I felt like it, but managed only about 200 words.

My first "fanfic" was a bit of mesh up with the old Quartermain movies, a bit my little pony, my own fantasy world and wrote it for a class assignment in 3rd grade. Around that time I began putting ideas down on paper. Most of it was of course utterly horrible :D

I have yet another WIP, on which I have managed 1,186 words! It's a multiparter, even, and I might post the first chapter once it's done. It's a Bionicle/Doctor Who crossover, post "Journey's End", where Kiina becomes Ten's companion so she can get the hell off Spherus Magna long enough that her heartt stops breaking whenever she sees something that reminds her of Mata Nui—and there are a lot because he's the one who made her home a decent place to live again.

In Ten's case the story's floating in the 2009 specials somewhere, in Kiina's it's post-canon. I may or may not have plans in store for Kiina smacking Ten in the back of the head with her trident when he gets too much for meher, heeheehee...

When did I start writing? ... I have no idea. Since forever. I know when I was 8 or 9 or so my mum was my editor and she was awesome, and when I was 10 or 11 I posted terrible Bionicle fanfic and then when I was 12 I looked at it and cringed and tore it down faster than you can say "I can totally erase things from the internet" (it's still on my hard drive but whatever). I've only really got into sharing my stuff again (we do not speak of my Mary Sue days) as of... June 1, 2012! :D

I added another 1400 words to my big bang. I'm so close to the end I can taste it!

When having a clear out last year, I discovered a notebook that had my very first story in it which I had written when I was 6. It was a ridiculous wee thing about a fox and cat chasing each other and then running off together. Mind you, I didn't share anything at all until I was 18.
