Greetings on Monday! What kind of day was it for you today?
Did you write?
If yes, what kind of writerly activity did you engage in? If no, what were the obstacles/situations that affected your writerly pursuits?
For discussion: At what age do you remember thinking you wanted to write? What do you remember writing when you were young? When did you first start sharing your writing with the public?

Date: Monday, August 20th, 2012 18:23 (UTC)Oh, man. I was writing fic back at, um, 11? I even showed one (fanfic) to my teacher, who quite kindly edited it for me, mentioned a couple things I should watch for, and told me it was a good job and fun, keep it up. *Great* teacher, we loved her dearly.

Date: Monday, August 20th, 2012 21:50 (UTC)I actually started out writing music when I was about 7 or 8 and from that I moved on to lyrics. I wrote my first fic when I was 10 but I didn't post anything till I was 15 or 16 not sure if they're still online though.

Date: Monday, August 20th, 2012 22:08 (UTC)My first "fanfic" was a bit of mesh up with the old Quartermain movies, a bit my little pony, my own fantasy world and wrote it for a class assignment in 3rd grade. Around that time I began putting ideas down on paper. Most of it was of course utterly horrible :D

meher, heeheehee...When did I start writing? ... I have no idea. Since forever. I know when I was 8 or 9 or so my mum was my editor and she was awesome, and when I was 10 or 11 I posted terrible Bionicle fanfic and then when I was 12 I looked at it and cringed and tore it down faster than you can say "I can totally erase things from the internet" (it's still on my hard drive but whatever). I've only really got into sharing my stuff
again(we do not speak of my Mary Sue days)as of... June 1, 2012! :Dno subject
Date: Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 10:12 (UTC)When having a clear out last year, I discovered a notebook that had my very first story in it which I had written when I was 6. It was a ridiculous wee thing about a fox and cat chasing each other and then running off together. Mind you, I didn't share anything at all until I was 18.

Date: Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 13:53 (UTC)I remember writing a mystery story when I was 9 or 10; I don't know how good it was, but I remember it being fairly complicated -- I think it failed at the end because I have a clear memory of getting that far and realizing I didn't know whodunnit! My mom saved the story for a long time, but I don't know where it is now, wish I did!
My first fannish writings were Bonanza related, I think, when I was a teen, but after that I really only wrote essays and such until I was middle-aged (yes, it's true, I am not a spring chicken, lol!). I started writing Lord of the Rings in earnest then, and posting it about 10 years ago.
