[personal profile] barbayat posting in [community profile] writethisfanfic
Hi, everyone I am going to do the check up posts this week, being in Europe I think the late afternoon my time will work well for the time of posting. If not I am open to suggestions :D

So, how did your writing go this weekend/day?

(I would do a poll but somehow I can't
seem to figure out how to do it, might
be lack of a paid account?)

Discussion topic of the day: Reviews

What kind of reviews do you prefer to get?

How do you approach reviewing others?

Myeh. Mood from yesterday continuing into today, but I've actually begun to take the feedback on a few Tacky Takua Chronicles plot-related questions I asked and have started in on rewriting that section before I get too far in and forget. And now that I think about what's reasonable over what's cool, having the Makuta taunt Takua would be kind of ridiculous when it would be so much simpler to just squash the poor guy like a particularly shiny glowbug. New plan: something else. Look, I'm a pantser writer and my outline serves as a story summary that fits inside 384 characters, I know what's going to happen a half-second before the words come out of my fingers.

Any reviews! I really, really don't care at this point. Well, okay, I do. Positive ones. I prefer ones that show competence in the English language so I know my readers aren't a bunch of [train of thought stopped for own safety], and ideally I'd like them to touch on at least one part of the story that they liked instead of just being "Yay, I really liked this!"

I give unto others what I would like to be given: SPaG-appropriate with at least one part of the story specifically mentioned as particularly awesome.

It went rather well today. I decided I needed to think about how my POV character sees one of the others then sat for an hour and wrote my 1000w about it. Unually, when I write a scene with a lot of dialogue I tend to skip over descriptive details because the replies of the characters seem more important. I'm hoping that I can tuck some of today's better sentences into some 'too hurried' dialogues that Ive drafted.

Reviews: I haven't thought about them in ages - I haven't posted fic for ages. Yes, Ive glad of any but I like hearing what my fic made a reader feel, esp. if its different from my own feelings when writing. I like when a comment can spawn another story idea.

I've managed some writing and some editing. It's going slowly, but it's going.

I'm bad about commenting on other people's stuff. I'm trying to get better at it, though. I know how much I love getting comments, and I want to give something back to the writers I enjoy.

I spent most of the day editing and doing last minute research, and I'm planning on posting tomorrow (RL depending).

I'm not too fussed what reviews I get as long as it isn't flames. I do like con crit from time to time but I do mention in my notes when I want it, usually when I'm doubting every word on the page.

I try to give positive reviews and also point out small mistakes in constructive way. I also like the kudos option on AO3. I won't review when I see "plz r&r" or "reviews make me write more" that to is a big no because it comes across as begging or desperate.

I've been playing around with my assigned fic to figure out which parts I want to use for the remix. I've also found a title (yay) and the right music to use as background noise. Not entirely sure how I'll stitch the fic together, but I have an idea how to start and hope that the actual writing process will do with the rest.

I spent most of the day brainstorming with a friend about a space colony that people use music(computer program) to alter the nature(commands main computer which manages the space colony). How it starts from musing about a classical musicians!Avengers AU to this, I cannot say.

I try to give positive feedback and really love the kudoes option on AO3. I welcome constructive criticism in the review.
