Trying to get some writing done? Whether you're taking part in the WIP challenge or just hoping to make some progress on your own, you're invited to come on over to LiveJournal and check out
fic_rush next weekend.
What is
fic_rush? It's a two-day, multifandom communal writing event where writers check in on an hourly basis to give each other support, encouragement, congratulations and commiserations. (Also jokes about penguins and alien fish. It's all welcome, really.) There is no time commitment -- you can join in for one hour or the full 48 hours, and you can drop in and out as your schedule, sleep requirements and writing muse dictates. Participants come from all around the world, so no matter when you drop in, someone else is bound to be around. All fandoms are allowed, and it's a great way to get yourself going on some new story, or break through a writer's block on an old one.
The next round starts November 20th at midnight GMT (i.e., Friday night at midnight) and runs for 48 hours, until Sunday night midnight GMT. Click here to see how the start time translates into time zones around the world.
Here's the FAQ post and here's the announcement for the current round. If you want to know what it's like during a round, check out the posts at
fic_rush_48. You can also feel free to ask me questions and I'll answer if I can (I'm not a fic_rush mod, but I've done many of the rounds and I've hosted some of the shifts).
If you can't join in this weekend but like the idea, feel free to watch the community to get information on future rounds. Hope to see some of you there!
