It's the start of another week. I'm
the_rck, and I'll be doing the check-in entries this week. This is my first time doing a poll, so please excuse it if it looks funny or isn't quite right.
How's the writing going?
For discussion today-- Religion is a powerful force for many people. Do you ever use religion or religious themes in your writing? It could be anything from making a particular character a believer (or unbeliever) in something to writing about what the god or gods are in a particular setting.
I've mainly used religion when writing The Chronicles of Narnia. Religion and God are important to the canon. It's possible to write stories set there without addressing religious themes, but I find doing so difficult. I have the impression that portrayals of Aslan and morality have the potential to be controversial in certain corners of the fandom. Religion figured a bit in the story I wrote crossing Doctor Who with Zenna Henderson's People stories. I don't think any of my other stories have had religion as a factor.
