Today's discussion question: How do you get started writing? Is there a particular place you like to be? Do you need music (or does that distract you)? Do you start at the beginning and go forward, or do you skip around, writing the bits that come most easily?
I find that I do best in starting to write if I'm alone at my keyboard. I like to have music or a TV show that I don't need to pay much attention to going (Though my daughter's TV shows are a distraction I can't seem to overcome). I start at the beginning and work my way forward. The times I've tried skipping around haven't worked. I do generally spend several days thinking about the story before I start typing. I seem to need that time to let the ideas percolate.
