A lot of us do exchanges and challenges and otherwise write to prompts. If you do that sort of thing, what's your process? How do you go from prompt to story idea?
Generally, for me, this involves a review of canon (or parts of canon) and taking notes. Then I let things stew for a few days if I've got the time. I usually make a couple of false starts as I figure out the point of view character and the starting situation.
