Today's discussion topic:

[“I’LL WRAP UP THIS FIC WITH THIS NEXT SCENE” (Fanfic Flamingo) FIVE SCENES LATER: STILL HAVEN’T REACHED THAT SCENE]

Do you ever find your plot running away from you? How do you deal with it if it happens?

Well, how did my writing go? Great - I finished the smut only chapter and I really enjoyed the experience tremendously. Added about 1000 words to the already 2000+ words from the writing sprint.

The only thing I feel guilty about is that the scene happens in the second part of my Van Helsing fanfic trilogy and I have yet to finish part one of it. Why haven't I finished it? Your fanfic flamingo says it all. This simple confrontation between Dracula and the Masked One, it is soo near and yet somehow I don't manage to get there.

I'm not really sure if I wrote or just tweaked and edited today but I feel good for some reason so let's just go with that.

Did about three sentences' worth of writing and called it a night. I plan to do a little bit more this week, but my Kaleidoscope prompt just hit my inbox and I'm fretting over how to make it work.

When a plot runs away from me...oh, yes, it happens a lot. I once sat down to write a drabble, and three hours later I surfaced with a 2K fic that later launched its own fic series. If the new plot seems to be a natural outgrowth of the main story, I'll leave it as it stands, but if it feels like I'm just padding out text or writing out waffle because I'm afraid of getting to the more difficult bits later on, I'll talk with someone else and see about trimming it down.
