And finally, our topic for reflection:
Do you prefer writing original fiction, or fanfiction? Did you switch from one to the other? If so, why?

Computer, take a note: I LIKE THIS STYLE OF CHECK-IN LOG

ahem. There should be an option for "catching up on 2.5 years of high school". Because. Uh. Correspondence courses are really good at enabling my procrastination, and I've only recently grown a sense of getting my act together, so today and yesterday (and tomorrow) are allll devoted to sitting down and doing math until my eyes cross and then doing it some more. Also I've been off writan for a while anyway, but... 'm doin' my homework. (Finally.)

I'm also learning by experience about what it feels like to cram my head full of things this quickly... namely, headaches. Frustration, though that could be because when I'm not procrastinating I am ALL RARING ALL THE TIME and if I hit a wall I have a hard time stepping back to look at it from another angle.

I almost only write fanfic, so.... that one. I switch because I want to get paid for this scribbling thing some day.

I've only ever written fanfic, barring a few awful things when I was a teenager, and one unfinished horror story, which I essentially have to rewrite completely, because it's rubbish, even if I like the basic concept.

I occasionally have o.f. ideas, but I enjoy writing fanfic, and there's only so much time in a day. One day, perhaps.

I prefer writing fan fic as I don't have the patience for writing original fic. I've writing original a few times but it's not something I care for.

Managed 200(ish) words yesterday, handritten, so I'll be deciphering my scribble when I get home later this morning.

LOVE THE CHECK-IN LOG!

I mostly write fanfiction, but have been known to write original stuff - I think people prefer to read fanfic though because they already know the characters, or there's a much higher chance of knowing the characters.

Spent yesterday RPing. Will be taking a notebook to work today in the hopes I might get something actually written.

I want to keep my writing firmly in the hobby category, so I really prefer writing fanfic. As long as I'm doing that, my relatives don't pressure me to try to get published (though I suppose that might change if they become aware of people filing off serial numbers and crossing over). I've also had more luck finishing fanfic stories than I ever did with original fic.

That said, there's a third category of writing that I did for years-- I wrote LARPs. Each one had about twenty characters. I had to write each character's backstory in a couple of pages so that the players had enough information to go forward. Finding each character's voice was key. I had to remember that each was the main character from his or her own point of view. I haven't written a LARP since I started writing fanfic. I kind of miss it, but I'm enjoying fanfic.

I have been caught in a temporal causality loop for an unknown number of days, and have been forced to repeat being too busy and not having time to write over and over again. Here's hoping I can break out before too many more repetitions of the loop....

I write fanfiction because I'm doing it for fun, and the stories I want to tell are based on characters created by someone else. I think I have it in me to do original fiction, but I don't have any inspiration along those lines at the moment.

I'm just starting on original fic lately so I still like fanfic best but this may change.
