WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 12 -- Friday

Hello on Friday!  Sorry about not posting yesterday, I'm not sure what happened or where the day went!  But today is a new day -- and the weekend is coming up!

If yes, what kind of writerly activity did you engage in?  If no, what were the obstacles/situations that affected your writerly pursuits?

For Discussion:  Our reading audience has an influence on how and what we write, to a greater or lesser extent.  Do you, as a writer, find yourself writing to please your readers -- or are you more concerned with pleasing yourself?  Is your writing a combination of both?

I wrote a couple of short fanfics for various challenges on dw and lj, and about 150 words of original work... At least it's something ;)

I never think about readers when I write - unless I am filling a request of some sort. First and foremost I write for myself, and because I enjoy reading back what I write. The fact that other people like it is just a bonus :) but if I'm happy with my work, then that's good enough for me :)

No writing today, too busy dealing with RL. I'm not too fussed about having a break as I've got over 4000 words on one of my fics this week.

I write to please myself rather than my readers. If I sign up for a ficathon or exchange I try to cater to what my recipient has aksed for.

Had finished the rough draft of my reverse Big Bang! Still waiting on my beta to finish looking through the first portion and I'll probably need to scramble to find someone else to look through the next portion, so hopefully I'll manage to deal with edits better than my last Big Bang. XD Considering doing a pinch hit, but I want to wait and see my assignment for gift_homestuck first.

Now at the moment still thinking over which next prompt I want to do for fmagiftexchange. I think I decided on one (which I now realize can also fit well for my cottoncandy_bingo card yay), going to see if I can do it quickly.

Depends. For exchanges or kink memes I do a bit of both, writing something I'll enjoy while at the same time try to add some things I believe the recipient will like. I admit to many times writing I think will please the readers because I know certain people who are quite picky and I'm always afraid if they don't like my work I'm a bad writer. D: I then learn to just write what I want and enjoy it and be happy there will be those that appreciate my work.

Whew! It's been one helluva month work-wise, BUT I got some writing done Tuesday and Friday (yesterday)!

I've posted two short stories this week ("Pursuer and Prey" [DS9, Garak/Bashir] and "I've Seen Your Flag On The Marble Arch" [A.I., Professor Hobby/Gigolo Joe]) and the first chapter of a longer work ("For Always" [A.I., various]).

I write to please myself: my first concern is always, "Does this make sense to me?" I figure that if I write with integrity the readers will see that and appreciate it. So far this seems to be the right approach to take, at least for me personally.
