Beta reader?

Is there anyone out there who'd be able and willing to beta a 20,000-word Doctor Who fic featuring the First Doctor and the Master as toddlers? It's about four-fifths of the way through its second draft, and I'd really appreciate it if somebody not-me could rove an eye for spelling, grammar, continuity and nasty prose.

Hey there--I'm glad you found a beta! I'm sorry I haven't put up the beta post that I mentioned a while ago... I'm still thinking about the best way to do it. I don't know if people would find it useful to have a thread of people who are generally happy to beta (including fandoms, etc.) & then just post looking for a beta if they can't find any joy there, or if a available-beta list might get outdated & not useful? Augh, I should just post asking for people's opinions on the whole thing. Life has been a little frantic lately but I'll try to do it soon--just wanted to say I'm sorry I haven't done it yet, & yay for finding a beta!!

Don't worry about it! The limiting factor here wasn't you not putting the post up, it was me getting off my lazy backside and back to editing :)

Available-beta lists don't really work, in my experience; they get outdated far too fast, and most people seem to be more comfortable with throwing out an idea and seeing who's interested than with PMing smoeone directly to say, 'Hey, will you read this?'. If we had a post, then anyone who was planning on betaing regularly could subscribe to the comments, which would have basically the same effect.

But yeah, if you're not sure of the best way to do it, stick a poll up :)
