Do you have a writing ritual? Are there certain things you need to do in order to get started, or can you write under any conditions?

I got my Yuletide assignment and started trying to figure out what to write. A canon review is first on the agenda.

I am still in research mode, trying to nail down all my ideas for the one shots I'm working on this month. I don't feel quite ready to write anything yet, or make a final decision on some of the ideas, so that's a bit frustrating, but otherwise, it's nice to have the opportunity to research as I please.

It would seem that research is one of my rituals, as I don't seem to be able to write anything very effectively without a lot of stuff in my outline. ;-) Other than that, I don't think I have a ritual, except to make sure I have a block of time available where I won't be interrupted, which sometimes involves doing a few odd jobs and tidying before I get started.
