I am going to do the check-ins this week. I think it can't hurt to have the check-in posts out earlier in the day, so I might post them even sooner during the next days.
So did you ...
... write?
... edit?
... researched?
... procrastinated?
... did something else?
Discussion Topic:
I curious about how you go about editing your stories? What works best for you? Look over it yourself? Sent an early draft to a beta? Do you need to achieve some level of comfort with a story before you can bear letting someone look at it?

Date: Sunday, November 18th, 2012 20:15 (UTC)I used to run things by a beta, but now I do it all myself. I only run it by someone else when I'm not sure it hangs together as well as I would like. I'm a good editor, so I feel confident in my own work. I don't mind letting someone else look at it in the early stages, but since I edit as I go, it's usually pretty tight even when I ask for help with it.

Date: Monday, November 19th, 2012 00:41 (UTC)I desperately need beta readers when I edit. Without comments from someone else, I usually can't see what needs to be changed and am apt to put the story up with minimal editing, usually just a quick pass through looking for SPAG errors (I have trouble seeing those on my own, too, so it's lucky that I don't generally have too many and that it's easier to find beta readers who look for that sort of thing).
I would like to find some betas and writing partners
Date: Friday, November 23rd, 2012 23:57 (UTC)We don't have cable or Netflix etc., so unfortunately I don't see many of the popular series, including Supernatural, Torchwood, Dr. Who, and so forth. PBS did pick up DW Nine a few years back, and I enjoyed it, especially since I like Christopher Eccleston.
I have thought about writing for Person of Interest, but haven't tried it. I need to step out of my comfort zone :).
