Happy Monday! I hope your day has been going well so far. Here's the sometimes-true writing-related quote for the day:

You can't wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club.
-- Jack London

1. How has your inspiration-clubbing gone today?
  • I'm writing!
  • I'm researching!
  • I'm editing!
  • I'm taking a break!
  • I'm wishing I had time to write, but I'm just too busy with other things...
2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most positive, how are you feeling about your writing efforts today -- and why did you choose that number?

3. The "answer if you feel like it" question: What do you do to get yourself inspired, if inspiration is attempting to elude you?

Writing and editing for me now that I've got both work and uni out of the way for a couple of days and have got more time to focus on my fics.

I'm about 5-6 with my writing and what I want to achieve over the next day or so. Anything higher than 6 feels a tad unrealistic for me just now.

For inspiration it varies, music usually sparks something, sometimes it's the inane chatter on my local radio station, and other times putting on a DVD that is different to the fandom I'm writing in.

Today, I'm working hard at my daughter's school and not writing. The Scholastic book fair is this week, and the librarian is sick (and has been for about three weeks). They've brought in someone else, at the last minute, and are desperately trying to get everything done today that should have been done over the last couple of weeks.

When inspiration eludes me, I like to talk to someone about what I'm working on. That can often shake something loose for me. I don't even have to talk about the specific issue I'm having, just the piece in general.

Yes, that works for me, too. Sometimes not even my stories just the genre or stories with similar intentions/feelings attached to them.

I re-wrote something in an older fic but I am not really happy about the results, my inspiration is there just too unfocused. It's like I am all over the place, Sherlock, The Matrix, Charlie's Angels, Avengers .... bla I wish I could spend my entire life just writing - not having to worry about anything else.

Inspiration has clubbed *me*. Oh *god*.

And I tend to stare at my folders going, "Huh, what's that one?" and reading the rough story ideas I wrote up when i first thought of them, or checking stuff I have in memories as 'story ideas' or posts of mine where something in them (comment or post) ended up getting a tag added for story ideas.

::grins:: Failing all that, I go read non-fiction until I think of something to do with what I'm reading.

Feeling about a 7 for my writing efforts. A few reasons for this: I resisted idea chasing-- twice! Focused on a fic that I could write without having to untangle any knots. Later, I calmed my nerves and kept myself still long enough to get some writing done. I fixed the rusty 1st draft without losing heart... but got sidetracked by a bug in my room. Contemplating a return for the 3rd draft. If I make it, I could bump my score to an 8.

I felt inspiration clubbing went quite well. Spent a little time on each of my bunnies for my exchanges and am pleased with what I've got so far. They're not complete outlines yet but they are getting there. I would say about a 8 because it's the most I've managed in about a month.
