Here we are at the midpoint of the week. Writing is happening for me (I'm more likely to write during the week while my daughter's in school and I'm home alone than I am during the evenings and weekends). I hope writing's happening for all of you, too.

How do you feel about your writing today? Is it going great? Would you rather not talk about it?
For today's discussion-- Do you like to discuss your story ideas with other people? Does talking about your ideas or your WIP help you or does it kill the story dead?
I like to talk stories through, kind of brainstorming and seeing what sparks. It can help me clarify what I'm doing and lets me see which of my ideas make sense. I don't need the other person to actively engage in the discussion (though it's great when they do), nodding and occasional leading questions more than suffice. I'm afraid I get kind of boring when I do this, however, so I try not to do it at a given person too often.

Date: Wednesday, December 12th, 2012 21:25 (UTC)And I love discussing my fics with folks: I find that just having somebody to listen to me revs me up and gets me thinking in new ways. But I try not to do it without being asked, unless I'm posting on one of my blogs (where it's open season on any topic I like).

Date: Wednesday, December 12th, 2012 22:34 (UTC)Oh, I know what you mean, I love bouncing ideas around or just chatting about ideas. I also love to listen to other people talking about their stories. Like what they want to achieve with it talking about what would work and what not etc ...
I think the whole process of imagining and building scenes, characters is just very stimulating.
