Hi everyone, hope today is good for you :)

Really early today, I have got a ton of stuff to do in RL and I'll likely forget to do this if I wait until later on.

Discussion topic: advice. What has been the best piece(s) of advice you've been given? Any bad/unhelpful piece(s) of advice?
It doesn't have to be writing or fandom related, it can be life advice, anything is fair game really.

Sadly, the best advice is still, "Write."

I made mad progress today. Wrote two porn ficlets and posted them, I hardly ever (well, never) write porn not anonymously. Progress!

I'm still in research mode because I don't feel like my idea/outline has enough going for it yet to start writing. I'm also probably procrastinating. ;-)

My best writing advice was "Don't judge your ability to write by how many comments you get."

Worst advice: Each writer has one method for writing (place, music, lighting, etc.). The best way for me to break out of a slump is to change things up, but for a long time I was kind of frozen with one set-up because of this advice.

Best advice: If things are going along just swimmingly, but suddenly you can't write any further, it's because you told a lie somewhere along the line. I take the phrase "told a lie" to mean, wrote something that wasn't true to the story or the character(s). Going back and making corrections in the place where that happens really helps me move forward with a story.
