It's Monday. For most of us, it's the day the week starts. That being so, it's an opportunity of sorts for a new beginning.
So how's the writing going today?
Did you write?
Edit?
Research?
Plan?
Send to beta?
Take a break?
Deal with other life things?
How do you feel about what you've done today?
I haven't done any writing yet, but it's only 10:30 for me. I've got time yet. I know where I need to start. At least, I think I do.
Today's discussion question-- When you write multiple stories with the same character(s), do you tend to use the same interpretation of them each time or do they vary enough that they seem very different versions of themselves? I know that I tend to have some core characteristics for each person that don't change, and, of course, canon is always there as a guide, but I often find myself thinking of Rheotaxis Yohji versus Torsion Yohji versus Snare Yohji (just as an example). A lot of the differences arise from events in the story, but there are some differences even at the beginning. Canon allows for different interpretations.

Date: Monday, January 14th, 2013 21:04 (UTC)I've been writing for most of the day, no idea what my word count is though but I can live with not knowing as I've had to cut & paste two seperate yet important chapters from Twice Unjust because I left out of things in both that are relevant to the fic as a whole. Oops. I have finished chapter 1 now and gotten to the halfway mark with it. Could do with another set of eyes on it at some point to make sure it makes sense.

Date: Monday, January 14th, 2013 22:58 (UTC)Hmm, so far my ideas involved the same continuity if I use the same character again. But I think if I get done with this Loki Fanfic, I use another idea and go with a much darker interpretation ...

Date: Monday, January 14th, 2013 23:52 (UTC)I have multiple stories with the same characters. I do tend to use the same interpretation of them across the board. The stories tend to deal with different time periods so there is flexibility in presenting characters who are younger than in other stories, or dealing with an issue that is present in one but not the other. But they are the same interpretation. I've actually realized that in many ways, each of my different stories is actually linked to the others in such a way they could almost be considered part of a series!
I have a couple of times branched out and written some one shots using the same characters, where I do something different with them. It's hard, but quite rewarding!
