How's today's writing going? Weekends are bad for me in terms of writing, but I know the opposite is true for many people.
Did you:

Think about your story?
Do something else?
Today's discussion question: Do you have ideas that you never start writing? How do you keep track of story ideas?
I have a document where I keep notes about ideas I've had. It's usually just a few words, just enough to remind me of what I was thinking of. More detailed notes wait until I'm actually writing the story (if I ever do). Most of them, I'll probably never write. There are so many of them.

Date: Sunday, February 10th, 2013 23:04 (UTC)For story ideas, I have a Scrivener project called Plotbunny Farm, with several folders, one for Seeds and one for Seedlings. Seeds are just bare-bones ideas and concepts; Seedlings are ideas that have a scene or two written.
If I'm interested enough to work on them, I move them to my Current Crop folder. If I like the ideas, but I'll probably never write them, I put them in the Fallow Fields folder. Who knows? I might go back to them some day.

Date: Monday, February 11th, 2013 02:30 (UTC)I have folders for story ideas, one for each fandom, with separate ideas noted each to its own document. I usually do some research to make sure the idea even works in the first place and I keep track of all that. When I get an idea, it's often fast and furious and I spend a lot of time fleshing it out, even if it may not end up being written. My ideas never go away, even after I know they are ones that will likely not be written, and I continue to add to the idea folder as things come up that fit with that idea. Some stories are content to just exist as interesting ideas that could be written if I had time; others are more insistent and eventually the ideas get used somehow, even if they aren't in a story of their own -- sometimes the ideas can be used as part of an existing WIP.
If only working on my WIPs were as easy as coming up with ideas and researching them! :-D

Date: Monday, February 11th, 2013 10:31 (UTC)For ideas, I tend to write them down in a notebook and go back to it when I want to try and work with one of them and of course some ideas just stay that way because they're unworkable.
