How's the writing going today? It's going to be a slow day for me. School was canceled due to icy roads, so my daughter's at home. I seldom get any writing done while she's around. I suppose I'll see. It's still early in the day.

Did you:

Write?
Edit?
Send to beta?
Post?
Think about your story?
Do something else?

Today's discussion question: What represents a successful day of writing for you?

For me it depends. A lot of days, I feel successful if I make any progress at all, even if it's just a few words. Some days, I feel good even when I don't write at all because I think about my story and figure out something important about how it needs to go.

Just as I was drifting off to sleep last night, I had a thought about a one shot story I have been wrestling with that changes the focus entirely, and suddenly it's a whole new ballgame. The other idea was good, but my new idea is much better and still fits the parameters for the story, which is for a challenge -- due in just a few days. I've worked on some notes and a done a bit of research for the new idea so far, and have a rough outline, but that's about it -- so far!

A really successful day is when I actually write something that advances the story! However, I feel successful even if I just spend time thinking about my pieces and maybe making a few notes. I believe that a lot of the writing of a story happens in the thinking stage, and the writing part is just letting the words out that have been forming as I think about things, so if I get time to think, that's a good day!

Since I finished something on Sunday, on Monday I rested from my labours. (And got a rather complicated story idea that I was turning over in my head.)

Posted my bingo yesterday, still waiting on my new card. I can never get the motivation to write without having a specific reason to work towards :)

I did so many other chores today that I think I'll only do a little light, evening writing. As opposed to tackling something more complex like my gift exchange ficlets.

Finished one last night, and now I'm editing the mother before I send it to betas.

Any day where I get at least a thousand words done or more than that edited is a good day, as far as I'm concerned. (On amazing days I've managed 4-7,000 but that's all that gets done that day, too!)

There needs to be another option: "Did you not do a damned thing today?" Because that's me, all the way.

I write on 2 fic.

A successful day is a writing day, when I can put words down.
