How's the writing progressing? I hope it's going really well for all of you. It's still quite early in the day for me, so it's too soon to say how well I'm going to do. The next step after I post this is to open up the document I was working on Friday.

Did you:

Write?
Edit?
Send to beta?
Post?
Think about your story?
Do something else?
Take a rest?

Today's discussion question: How do you know when a story's finished? I often find myself wandering when I'm near the end of a story. I can't quite find the right words or event to tie everything up. Sometimes, I just stop and pretend that that's the proper end. Sometimes, I keep writing, hoping that I can fix the problem in editing. For my long WIP, I've actually drafted the final chapter (I expect it will change a lot) so that I know what I'm aiming for. Endings are difficult for me.

I continue to work on my scifibigbang and theaviary technowizard fic.

I know when it's the end when I can't bother to write another word to it. Not a good method, but I always do it.

I had to work on an obligation for one of my comms, but should be able to get back on track with the personal writing from today. :-)

This week my goal is to outline the story I plan to write for scifibigbang and start writing it. So far I have done exactly nothing to help me reach that goal, unless writing an unrelated drabble for the fandom in question counts.

I never start actually writing a story until I know two things: how it starts and how it's going to end. That way I don't run into the problem of not knowing where I'm going when I get caught up in the middle of it. Sometimes the ending changes as I work my way through the story, but I never start without an idea of what the conclusion will be. Sometimes I do write the last chapter or scene out, sometimes I just outline key points as a reminder, and sometimes I just play it by ear and hope I can remember what I had planned.

The last days were not really that good. Event though i wrote something I feel a bit unproductive.

When I don't have anything more to add to the plot or the character's growth as related to the conflict in the story then I know I got everything wrapped up.

I wrote! I finished and posted a challenge fic that turned out to be just short of 1,000 words. I'm now contemplating what I should work on next, since I seem to be in a mood for writing.

I never plan ahead for how something is going to end, I just seem to recognize the end when I get to it.

I've been slacking -_- I came up with a change to the beginning of the long fic a while ago, and at first I was rather productive in working out the consequences... but then I kind of just ran out of steam, I guess. I'll get back on track this week!

I came up with a few details for my scifibigbang and wrote a little for a possible pinch hit. It's more than I have managed in a while so I'm quite pleased.
